An act to amend Section 79.1 of the Military and Veterans Code,
relating to veterans.

	LEGISLATIVE COUNSEL'S DIGEST

AB 879, Havice. Veterans: Deputy Secretary of Women Veterans
Affairs.
Existing law provides that the statutory authority for the
position of Deputy Secretary of Women Veterans Affairs is repealed on
January 1, 2001.
This bill would delete that repeal provision, thereby extending
this position indefinitely.

THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:

SECTION 1. Section 79.1 of the Military and Veterans Code is
amended to read:
79.1. In addition to the Undersecretary of Veterans Affairs,
there shall be within the department, and the secretary shall
appoint, a Deputy Secretary of Women Veterans Affairs who shall have
responsibility over administration of women veterans affairs.
